

Hayley Fox is a lyric soprano making her mark through performing new and unknown operatic works.
Recent engagements include covering Cendrillon at Cedar Rapids Opera in the winter of 2025. In March, Hayley will sing Elle in La Voix Humaine at Roosevelt University in a self-directed performance with collaborators Dana Brown and Amy Hutchison. This past fall, she covered the title role of in Leonora by Ferdinando Paër in the North American premiere with Chicago Opera Theater. She premiered the role of Emily in The Weight of Light by Gillian Ray Perry to critical praise in the spring of 2024, and she will play The Girl in the world premiere of Carlos Carrillo’s and Stephanie Fleischmann’s Remedios Varios Para las Aflicciones del Cuerpo y el Espíritu this upcoming spring. Her other noteworthy credits include singing Morgaine in Opera Fusion: New Works workshop of Edmond Dede’s recently rediscovered Morgaine, co-produced by Opera Lafayette and Opera Creole. She covered Praskovya Ospipovna/Mother./Repectable Lady in Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Shostakovich’s The Nose, while also singing Attendant/Traveller 3. Equally comfortable in early repertoire as well as modern, she recently covered Armida in Handel’s Rinaldo while at the Glimmerglass Festival, and sang Colette in Le Devin du Village by Jean Jacques Rousseau with the Chicago College of the Performing Arts Baroque Ensemble this past October. She was seen as Micaëla with in an abridged version of Bizet’s Carmen, which she also assistant directed at CCPA in 2024. Other credits include Susannah (Miss Hayes) as a Wolf Trap Opera Studio Artist in 2022, and in Galieo Galilei (Sagredo/Marie/Eos) with CCM Opera. Hayley is from Pennsylvania, and studied in Cincinnati, OH. She now resides in Chicago.

Hayley writes original music under the moniker Hyssop. Titled after the bitter herb, she aims to blend her knowledge of classical music with her interest in jazz and contemporary idioms to create a sound that is flush with spirit and color. She collaborates with her partner Timothy Fox, and plans to release a full length record in the future.
